What To Expect
Check In
Arrive at your reservation time to check in, complete your waiver and choose your media package (you’re going to want that video!).
Next stop is your safety briefing.

Gear Up
After a short training session, you’ll get fitted with a safety harness that connects you to your instructor and parachute system.
Before gearing up, you’ll practice exiting the plane, controlling the parachute and proper landing position with your instructor.
You’re all set and ready for take off!
The Ride Up
Once you’ve boarded the plane, it’ll take 12-30 minutes (depending on your tandem package) to reach our skydiving altitude — you’ll see the Phoenix skyline, Camelback Mountain and Four Peaks on your ride up.
Enjoy the view!

Freefall
It’s go time!
You’ll exit the plane around 14,500 feet (approx. 18,000 feet for HALO) and begin to freefall, reaching speeds of 120 MPH and lasting up to 60 seconds (90 seconds for HALO).
This might be the most exciting 60-90 seconds of your life!
Parachute Flight
Around 5,000 feet, your tandem instructor will deploy the parachute and you’ll glide through the sky for 4-6 minutes on your way back down to Skydive Phoenix.
After the rush of freefall, the parachute ride feels calm and surreal — like floating in a dream. If you’re keen, your instructor might let you steer the parachute. Or you can just relax and soak in the views.
Prepare for touchdown!

Landing & Celebration
To prepare for touchdown, your instructor will remind you to lift your legs as you slide in for a smooth and soft landing.
By the time you land, your body is buzzing with adrenaline, your heart is pounding and your mind is still catching up to what just happened. It’s a rush unlike anything else — a blend of excitement, freedom, and pure joy.
To celebrate your enormous accomplishment, you’ll receive a personalized skydiving certificate as proof that you’ve achieved something that few have the courage to do.
Congrats, you just did your first tandem skydive!

Frequently Asked Quetions
If you have a question that isn’t covered in our list of frequently asked questions, get in touch! We’re here to help.
What are the age limitations for tandem skydiving?
You must be at least 18 years of age with valid government-issued photo ID. As long as you’re healthy and have no physical restrictions, there’s no upper age limit for tandem skydiving.
What are the weight limitations for tandem skydiving?
There are weight considerations based on height, body composition, range of motion and overall health. Please contact us if you’re over 230 lbs.
For safety reasons, your tandem skydive instructor reserves the right to make the final decision regarding your ability to make a tandem skydive.
What should I wear?
CLOTHING: Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. We provide jumpsuits if you’d like to wear one for your jump.
FOOTWEAR: Please wear close-toed athletic shoes.
How long should I plan to be there?
Time spent at Skydive Phoenix varies day to day. Expect to be here for 2-4 hours, but weather or other delays may extend your visit with us.
What altitude do you jump from?
Our standard tandem skydive altitude is up to 14,500 feet and our high altitude tandem skydive altitude is up to 18,000 feet (with oxygen).
How fast do you fall?
Average freefall speeds for a tandem skydive is 120 mph. The heavier the individual, the faster the freefall. Your parachute ride back down to the skydiving center will last 4-6 minutes.
Should I eat before I jump?
We recommend having a small meal before your jump and to stay hydrated, especially during the summer months.
Consumption of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited! If sobriety is in question, we have the right to refuse service.
What time should I arrive for my reservation?
Your reservation time is your arrival time, not your jump time. You’re welcome to arrive earlier to get started on paperwork but not a requirement.
What is landing like?
Most tandem landings are quite soft, with many people able to perform a stand-up landing. Generally, we ask tandem students to lift their legs up straight in front of them, allowing us to land sliding on our butts. This is the safest method for both you and your tandem instructor.
Can my friends and family come to watch?
Absolutely! They can watch you get geared up, take off in the plane and land under parachute. The spectator area for friends and family is right in front of our large grass landing area — you’ll look like a rockstar!
Can I bring a GoPro or similar small camera on my tandem skydive?
No outside cameras are permitted on your skydive due to safety reasons. There are no exceptions. The United States Parachute Association mandates that skydivers have a minimum of 200 jumps prior to taking a camera into freefall.
